Getting married is for most people one of the happiest days of their lives. You are excited to live happily ever after.
But then life takes over. Children often change the dynamic of the relationship, career changes and the overall challenges of daily adult life can put a strain on any healthy relationship. Not all relationships can weather that storm and sometimes that means that relationships come to an end.
Not something you have envisaged on your wedding day. Maybe it was a slow process and you had time to mentally prepare for the end or maybe it was totally unexpected and you feel like you are drowning and don’t know what to do and where to start. No matter how it comes to an end, it is always painful. You are allowed to be sad, you are allowed to not be strong and feel like you are drowning and your world has been crushed.
There are a lot of stressors that come up when going through a relationship break-up. How will the children cope? How will I survive financially? Where will I live? How can I overcome his betrayal? How can I trust him and co-parent with him ever again? What will other people think?
I’m grieving the future I no longer have, how can I get over it? Will I ever find love again? Am I damaged goods?
No matter how or why your relationship ended, you are allowed to feel sad. Just because your relationship ended differently, maybe ‘less dramatic’ doesn’t mean your feelings are not valid or you are meant to get over it quicker than someone else.
Now this is where I come in. I am here for you. I’m here to hold space for you. I am here to support you through this difficult time. Guide you through the divorce, the heartbreak and the healing. Provide you with a safe space to talk and also a place for advice on how to move forward and be able to see the sun again while navigating through the storm. You and I will work together to work through the grief and allow you to see that there is a great life for you after heartbreak. It may be different to what you had envisaged, but your new life starts now.
Sending you lots of love and strengths
